Kevin Maas is a former professional baseball player who played in the Major Leagues from 1990-1996. He was born on January 20, 1965 in Castro Valley, California. Maas attended the University of California, Berkeley where he played college baseball for the Golden Bears.
Maas was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 22nd round of the 1986 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut with the Yankees on June 29, 1990, and quickly made a name for himself by hitting 10 home runs in his first 72 at-bats, a record at the time. Maas was known for his power hitting and was a fan favorite during his time with the Yankees.
Despite his early success, Maas struggled to maintain his high level of performance and was never able to consistently produce at the same level as his rookie season. He played for the Yankees, San Diego Padres, and Minnesota Twins during his career.
After retiring from baseball, Maas went on to work in real estate and as a financial advisor. Today, he remains involved in the baseball community and occasionally makes appearances at Yankees events and fan gatherings.
